Learncarego - Church Missions
Children’s Missions Program

PURPOSE:

Provide missions inspiration and training for kids ages 4 to 18.

YOUR JOB:

If you want to increase your church’s global impact, this is a great place to start. Children influence and steer the church more and more as they grow up. But even right now, they may have an influence on the adults – often that’s the way it works.

There are other benefits as well. These children will be future missionaries and future missionary supporters. Also, missions really makes the truth about Jesus Christ make sense – the whole world needs a Savior. In addition, missions will help the kids focus on others rather than on themselves.

Meet with those in charge of the children’s program at your church. Tell them that you want to help them. A good children’s missions program shouldn’t get in the way of the current children’s program. It should compliment it. It should be helpful to those who are already working to train those children.

IDEAS:

Missions Messengers help bring missions into ‘regular’ Sunday school classes. They use just a part of the class to share a missionary story or lesson.

With Adopt-A-Missionary, Sunday school classes financially support and pray for a missionary. Be sure to regularly tell the children what their missionaries are doing.

A Children’s Missions Class could be offered as a special Sunday school class or as vacation Bible school. Curricula for this class have been developed by others, but if you are adventurous, you can make up your own. Like any class, this one requires Assistant Teachers – a great way to educate adults on the importance of missions.

Another option is to perform Missions Skits.

As kids get older, they are ready for some real, hands-on experiences. Coordinate a local or international missions trip.
