Give believers in your church the opportunity to become missions-wise.
YOUR JOB:
Your job is to build interest for teachings on missions and to provide different avenues for people to be involved. Adult training should provide different meeting times, teaching methods and levels of commitment. Sometimes, you may be able to reach the whole church (e.g., a guest speaker). Other times you will be able to educate small groups. You may set up a special missions class, or you may bring a missions curriculum into an existing small group or Sunday school class. Your job is to train your church to understand the importance of missions and to train them how to accomplish God’s plans.
You will have the opportunity to inspire the people who may end up will volunteering to serve in your church’s LearnCareGo task force or who end up starting to move toward long term long term. That’s a high calling. Don’t be intimidated. Take it one step at a time. Accept a lot of help! There are great videos, study guides, speakers and conferences available through the resources on this web site.
Of course, all of these ideas require that the leadership of your church support you. The best way to get that support is for you to let them know that your goal is to help them. You want people to learn about missions and when you do that, you want to help the church leadership do their work. Expect the leadership to ask you to be faithful in little things before they give you the freedom to do more.
IDEAS:
The easiest way to make an instant (or nearly instant) impact on your church is to use the power of video. Start a Sunday school class devoted to one video teaching on missions. You push play and at the end facilitate some discussion. It is easy and effective.
If you hope for a broader reach, invite a speaker to speak during your weekly service. Or, convince your pastor to teach about missions. There are sermon notes and recorded messages that you can pull off the web for your pastor. He can adapt the content of those messages to his personal experience and style.
On our resource page, you can find study guides that you can use for small groups in your church. Get those groups talking about missions!

Dr. Walter Kaiser, president of Gordon Conwell Seminary and respected Old Testament scholar, convincingly argues that the missionary mandate does not begin with the Great Commission in the New Testament, but runs through the entire Old Testament as well.

There's a popular bumper sticker that reads "God Bless America," but hasn't America already been blessed? It's easy for us to fall into a mindset of viewing "our" world as "the" world, because it's all we generally see. We're constantly bombarded with images of the latest styles and models of everything, and it can easily leave us feeling like what we have isn't enough because we see people that have even more than us. But how does what we have compare to what most people in the world have? Maybe what we have is enough; maybe it's more...
